Radian’s Symphonic CFM Wins
Best of Show Software at Flash Memory Summit
CALABASAS, Calif., Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Radian Memory Systems® today announced that its Symphonic™ Cooperative Flash Management (CFM) won the Most Innovative Software Technology in the Flash Memory Summit’s Best of Show awards. From a crowded field of over two dozen entries, including submissions from many of the industry’s largest Flash device and systems companies, the Symphonic technology stood out in its ability to achieve a new class of performance and cost advantages utilizing standardized Flash hardware.
As the Flash storage industry’s largest conference, with almost 7,000 people in attendance, the award for ‘Most Innovative Technology’ honors the ultimate achievement for innovation in Flash storage.
“Customers have gained significant value with flash based SSD solutions yet enterprise applications are demanding higher and higher levels of performance and SSD solutions in the future need to find an elegant approach to replacing hard disk drive emulation in order to raise the bar to the next level,” said Jay Kramer, Chairman of the Awards Program and President of Network Storage Advisors Inc. “We are proud to select Radian Memory Systems Symphonic Cooperative Flash Management for the Best of Show Innovation Award as it hits a home run by delivering a software solution that replaces the Flash Translation Layer (FTL) to deliver up to 80% greater IOPS and bandwidth performance while requiring up to 30% less raw flash for an impressive, cost effective SSD storage solution.”
Every Flash SSD solution available today is based upon a FTL that introduces expensive overhead, unpredictable latency spikes, and suboptimal performance that prematurely wears out the Flash media. Symphonic CFM includes a combination of host-side software libraries and SSD firmware that enables system software to cooperatively perform Flash management processes to realize performance, QoS, and cost savings not possible with FTLs.
“This award is a testament to Radian’s commitment to unlocking the true potential of Flash storage,” said Mike Jadon, Radian Memory Systems CEO. “It is an honor to be named a Best of Show technology and innovation leader by the judges at Flash Memory Summit and be recognized for enabling a new era for Flash in the data center.”
